The Asian Fund for Cancer Research (AFCR) is pleased to be presenting the inaugural BRACE Award Competitions.
Scientists that are formally and verifiably associated with promising cancer research discoveries described in the application that are either still within, respectively, Asian universities, medical centers and other laboratories or that have recently spun-out of such institutions. Particularly, lead project investigators within labs or chief science or technology officers within start-up companies.
Opening remarks, followed immediately by a series of BRACE Award Competition presentations by scientists addressing proprietary cancer therapeutic projects*. PowerPoint or similar presentation formats are required, and must be delivered—verbally and visually—in English. Presenters are to be on-site well in advance of their predesignated time slot, and abide by the maximum 30-minute time limit, including segue and question and answer periods, which will be strictly enforced per presentation.
Decisions and announcement of the BRACE Award Competition winner and runner-up will be made by the panel of judges minutes after the final presentation’s conclusion, and respective HK$25,000 and HK$10,000 or SG$5,000 and SG$2,000 prize checks will be conveyed and photographs taken immediately thereafter. All presenters are asked to be present at that time.
*The BRACE Award has been designed primarily to help catalyze and raise the profile of cancer therapeutic candidates, although three additional categories too will be considered: diagnostic, preventive vaccine or research platform technologies.
