Dear Friends:

We are in an exciting time. With rapid progress in biology and biomedical research over the past decades, cancer research has entered into a golden era, moving forward now at unstoppable speeds.  We see that intriguing scientific ideas evolve into cutting-edge breakthroughs at an unprecedented pace, and new discoveries in research labs are being translated, one after another, into novel approaches to diagnosing, treating and preventing cancer.  More importantly, you and I are not only witnessing all of these, we are making them happen.

Cancer, regardless of how devastating it remains today, will be curable in the future.  And research is the most effective way to finding the cures.  It is the research conducted in laboratories and hospitals today that will make the critical difference between life and death for our generation and for generations to come.

The Asian Fund for Cancer Research (AFCR) provides grants to scientists in Asia who are conducting innovative research on cancers that significantly impact the Asian population.  We are committed to supporting the best research minds so that their innovative ideas can quickly be validated and translated into more effective diagnostic and treatment approaches, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure.  AFCR is engaged in promoting research collaboration through building effective information exchange platforms to enable active public-private partnership and academia-industry collaboration on cancer research worldwide.  AFCR is also dedicated to improving public awareness of cancer and empowering people to fight cancer more effectively through our public education program.

AFCR is about curing cancer and saving lives.

As an unknown sage once said: “I know not what the future holds, but I know who holds the future.”  At AFCR, we know that you and I, together, hold the key to a future without the fear of cancer.  Together, we can make it happen.
