Half of people diagnosed with cancer now survive their disease for 10 years or more, and research into more than 200 different types of cancer is at the heart of this progress. Ground-breaking work is conducted by more than 4,000 Cancer Research UK scientists, doctors and nurses across the UK. Their aims are to find ways to prevent cancer, diagnose more cancers early when treatment is more likely to be successful, develop more effective treatments to boost the number of people surviving, and make treatments kinder.
