Women in Cancer Research
“Too few medical breakthroughs and innovative technologies ever become new treatments due to lack of funding. It is more challenging for women-led companies and researchers to get funded. We need to change that.” – Sujuan Ba, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of AFCR
Gender bias in cancer research has impeded countless intelligent female researchers and entrepreneurs in their pursuit of life-saving discoveries. By working together with our strategic partners, the National Foundation for Cancer Research and the AIM-HI Accelerator Fund, the Asian Fund for Cancer Research (AFCR) has taken globally collaborative action to launch the Women in Cancer Research program—an initiative that advances women-led enterprises in the oncology field, supports female researchers and recognizes their scientific achievements.
Our goal is to bolster the work of women cancer scientists, research-physicians and entrepreneurs, and help them make scientific innovation a reality. We do so by providing critical research grants and offering unique exposure-generating opportunities and access to an extensive network of cancer experts and industry leaders, along with being a founding partner of the AIM-HI Women’s Venture Competition.
