Position Overview:

The Director of Marketing and Business Development at the Asian Fund for Cancer Research (AFCR) is responsible for driving the foundation’s growth in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region by developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies, managing strategic partnerships, and overseeing targeted fundraising initiatives. Reporting to senior leadership, the Director will integrate marketing and development functions to enhance donor engagement, build strategic alliances, and expand AFCR’s impact as a public charity.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Strategy and Development:
  • Develop and implement integrated marketing plans to increase brand awareness, donor engagement, and fundraising efforts in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Monitor industry trends, identify opportunities, and assess competitive positioning to inform AFCR’s marketing and strategic direction.
  • Lead the creation of marketing materials and campaigns, ensuring alignment with AFCR’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Manage internal and external communications, ensuring consistency in brand messaging and positioning.
  • Utilize analytics tools to track performance metrics, evaluate campaign effectiveness, and provide insights for continuous improvement.
Business Development and Fundraising:
  • Actively identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of prospects across annual support programs.
  • Develop and manage targeted fundraising campaigns, including corporate matching programs, honor/memorial giving, and sustaining donor initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to optimize in-house appeals and ensure successful execution of direct mail and email solicitation programs.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of fundraising performance, using data-driven analysis to establish benchmarks and refine strategies.
Strategic Partnership and Alliances:
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships that align with AFCR’s priorities and support organizational growth.
  • Conduct outreach to potential business partners and sponsors through various channels, including calls, emails, and in-person visits.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and industry influencers to foster collaboration and innovation.
  • Evaluate partnership performance and ROI, adjusting strategies to maximize impact.
Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Establish collegial relationships across AFCR’s teams to leverage resources and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to marketing and development staff, ensuring effective project management and team collaboration.
  • Represent AFCR at events, meetings, and conferences to promote the foundation’s mission and initiatives.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness in marketing and fundraising activities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in marketing, strategic partnerships, fundraising, or business development.
  • Proven track record of successful marketing campaigns and managing donor-centric relationships.
  • Strong proficiency in multi-channel marketing, including print, social media, and analytics tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin, including the ability to adapt technical content for broad audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and marketing software such as CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot), analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics), and project management tools (e.g., Asana).
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analyze data, and execute with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment and familiarity with donor stewardship principles.
  • Excellent organizational, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid work model: In-office work in Hong Kong with occasional remote work flexibility.
  • Occasional evening and weekend commitments for special events.
  • Some travel within Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region to cultivate partnerships and donor relationships.
