Recently, three breakthroughs have aided in the fight against breast cancer; three being chemoprevention, detection of circulation tumor cells and scintimammography. The main technology used in chemoprevention is Fenretinide, synthetic retinoid derivative, that is believed to reduce the chances of developing breast cancer. Scintimammography uses slightly radioactive tracer to further investigate suspicious areas found by regular mammograms.
