The Asian Fund for Cancer Research Limited (AFCR) will participate in the World Cancer Congress 2026, taking place from 24–26 September 2026 in Hong Kong. Organized by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in collaboration with the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society, the Congress will bring together the global cancer community to exchange knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and advance cancer control worldwide.
The World Cancer Congress is a major international forum for cancer control, bringing together researchers, healthcare professionals, patient advocates, nonprofit organizations, policymakers, and people affected by cancer.
As a Full Member of UICC, AFCR is pleased to take part in this global exchange and bring greater attention to the needs and experiences of people affected by cancer and their families across Asia.
AFCR’s Patient Community Hub Featured in the WCC 2026 Abstract eLibrary
AFCR’s abstract, “Empowering Underserved Cancer Communities in Asia: The Patient Community Hub,” has been accepted for presentation as an ePoster in the World Cancer Congress 2026 abstract eLibrary.
The Patient Community Hub is designed to address important challenges facing underserved cancer patients and caregivers, including limited access to reliable medical information, fragmented support networks, cultural and language barriers, and financial hardship.
The initiative aims to create a platform connecting people with cancer and caregivers with trusted information, structured guidance, peer support, and other practical resources.
By strengthening access to information and community support, the hub seeks to improve health literacy, reduce social isolation, and help patients and families to better understand their options and find the support they need throughout the cancer journey.
Connecting Patient Needs with the Global Cancer Community
The World Cancer Congress 2026 programme spans the full spectrum of cancer control, from prevention and early detection to research, healthcare systems, treatment, palliative care, and the experiences of people affected by cancer.
AFCR’s Patient Community Hub reflects an important part of this conversation: how digital tools and community-based approaches can help make cancer information and support more accessible to people with cancer and caregivers.
The Congress in Hong Kong also creates an important opportunity to bring perspectives from Asia into a global discussion about cancer care, access and equity.

AFCR will be exhibiting in the Congress Global Village at Booth A60, where attendees can meet us and learn more about AFCR’s work in cancer research and the Patient Community Hub.
Dr. Sujuan Ba, Founder, President, CEO of AFCR, will also participate as a speaker in the WCC highlight session, “Transforming Fundraising: Navigating Digital and AI Frontiers in Cancer Support Organizations,” on 25 September.
